What this game is like
Themed games come in two kinds. In the first, someone takes an existing board and prints new pictures over the pieces without touching anything else, so every token is still the same circle underneath. In the second, the pieces are redrawn to suit the story being told, and the furniture around the grid is adjusted to match.
Telling them apart takes about ten seconds. Squint at the board. If you can still tell the pieces apart with the detail blurred away, somebody cared about shape rather than relying on surface pattern alone. This board passes that test, because its pumpkins, potion bottles and skulls carry genuinely different outlines instead of sharing one silhouette with different decals applied.
The rules offer nothing new — swap two neighbours so identical items line up and they clear. If you have ever wondered whether seasonal editions are worth opening at all, this is a reasonable argument that they can be, and it sits on the blocks shelf at My Urban Eatery in every month of the year, not only in October.
